Writing Mentoring

Do you have a story that could help other people?

Do you dream of writing a book but lack confidence and clarity? Amy guides writers of all levels to write, publish and promote their story in a way that has a positive impact.

A nurturing way to turn your personal story or experience into a memoir, self-help book or guidebook. Amy works one-on-one with writers at every stage of the book writing process to give them confidence and clarity.

Bespoke advice: Amy works one-on-one with writers to turn their past or personal knowledge into a powerful product.

Insider guidance; an opportunity to get guidance on how to plot your book, come up with a killer title, pitch to publishers or self-publish.

Emotional support: Amy specialises in supporting writers with deeply personal, often traumatic, stories.

Perfect your message; previous mentoring students have secured book deals with global publishers, earned the attention of Australia’s leading news sites and seen their stories splashed across their favourite publications.

This is a safe place to discuss your writing hurdles and any personal concerns you have about putting yourself out there.

Book a one-hour Zoom call with Amy to discuss your writing project and get tailored support.

All mentoring sessions are held over Zoom. Places are limited due to Amy's own writing commitments. If no spaces are available, you can join our waiting list.

Amy is a qualified counsellor with advanced studies in grief and loss, and mindfulness-based therapies. All writing mentoring sessions are confidential and not recorded.

All writing mentoring students get priority access to Amy's Chapter Editing Service. Click here for more information.

If you're ready to pitch to a publisher, Amy can also edit your book proposal (or check-out our Book Pitching Template here)

If you're interested in crowdfunding to cover the cost of self-publishing a book, she has experience in this area too.

Frequently asked questions:

How does a session work? If this is your first mentoring session, you'll discuss your project and what you hope to achieve by sharing your story, plus any questions, challenges or areas of advice you want guidance on. By the end of one session, you'll have actionable solutions.

What type of books does this work for? Amy specialises in non-fiction books, including self-help guides, memoirs, business books and lifestyle guides covering a wide range of topics. She has also worked with writers on novels, which are inspired by their life experiences if their stories are too sensitive to publish as non-fiction.

How should I prepare for a session? If you've already started writing, it's useful to email Amy a sample before your session (maximum of 3000 words). At least 24 hours before your session, email your work to

Do I need to have a certain amount written? Not at all! Amy works with people at all stages of the creative projects, whether they have zero words written or they're ready to get a book deal or promote a product.

I want to get a book deal — can you help? Sure can! A lot of students have gone onto sign book deals, after working with me on their book proposals. You can also check out our online course, The Book Writing Remedy, which includes advice on pitching and a downloadable book proposal template. Click here to find out more.

Can you edit my writing? As with my other program, you can sign up to the Chapter Editing Service. Mentoring students get priority access.

I've got another question! Feel free to reach out to me on to see if it's right for you! Or, just trust your gut and book a sesh!

The 1:1 mentoring program is for you if:

  • You’re called to share your past but still want to feel good in the present.

  • People are constantly telling you, you should write a book/podcast/article but it feels overwhelming (and sh*t scary!)

  • You want to understand how to share your past, but not get lost in it.

  • You don't want the writing process to be a lonely one.

  • You'd love someone to brainstorm with!

  • When you do share your story, it feels like a breath of fresh air.

  • You're looking for practical support in sharing your story, but also a cheerleader who is on your side (but still won't pull any punches!)

  • You don't want to share your story "just for fun"—you want to value for it's worth and make it an empowering (and profitable!) experience.

For most people, the best place to start is our bestselling book writing course, The Book Writing Remedy. A lot of writers sign up to the course, and then go onto work with Amy to edit their writing.

'Amy is a unique combination of talented editor, savvy writer and generous soul. This mix ensures that your story gets told in a way that feels engaging, snappy, humorous, raw and vulnerable all at once. Writing a book can be a lonely experience. With Amy as your editor, you won’t feel alone. She really cares about you and your story—this is evident every step of the way.'

"Amy is a world-class editor who has a gift for editing with ruthless compassion! As a sharp editor, she not only helped to improve my writing, but her kindness and generosity always left me feeling cared for, encouraged, and motivated. Brilliant at what she does, but even better for who she is, writing and producing my children’s picture book series with Amy’s mentorship was a dream."

Jaleesa Paine

Author of The Money Lessons Series

“I’ve authored 24 books and produced 53 print magazines and Amy is, by far, the most wonderful, loving, efficient, talented editor I’ve ever worked with. She is pure brilliance.”

Lisa Messenger,

Author of Money & Mindfulness, Life & Love, and Risk & Resilience

"Amy's writing and editing genius, and holistic book coaching were like having a secret weapon onboard. Every time I wanted to scream, 'Stop the ride', Amy kept me on track, through writing and editing the book, to publishing it and beyond."

“Amy demystified the world of publishing, so I had a strategy that worked. And I knew exactly what I was seeking in a publisher-author relationship. I have no hesitation that without her experienced guidance and support, my first published book may still be a notion rather than hitting the shelves.”

"Amy took my spark of an idea and helped me flesh it out into a fully formed, book deal winning pitch. For the confidence and clarity she gave me, I’m forever grateful."
"I loved working with Amy. My publishing deal wouldn't have been possible without her support, guidance and belief in my story — a very tough story to tell."
